Started my first bulk ever I am really excited about it. I have been cutting for the past 10 months to lose a total of 132lbs. So far so good. |

I hope that you’r bulk is going good! Bulking is always my favorite part of the season all that great food and at least for me zero cardio. Just have to be careful not to over bulk, its really easy to just start eating everything in sight and stray off your original intended path. Cant wait to see the end results of your first bulk, keep us updated! |

Currently in the bulking phase myself…..I like to eat clean even in the bulking phase that way I won’t have to cut like crazy during my precontest phase…..as of right now I’m around 5’5 and I weigh about 175 at around 11.3 percent bodyfat……..but I don’t want to go too much higher. |

Hey guys I believe in clean bulking like Arnold would do in the day. In doing this you stay at a relatively low bodyfat while still eating a lot, but just eating really clean and healthy year round. In doing this you are making sure basically all weight you are putting on is muscle and you don’t have to worry about how much you will lose once you cut down for a contest. According to Arnold, if done correctly, clean bulking can help bodybuilders pack on about 10 pounds of lean muscle a year which is the same, if not more, than most bodybuilders pack on through bulking. But again this is just my take guys, feel free to respond. |

That’s the best way to bulk….another advantage is that you won’t have to go completely overboard in contest prep. |

As Zak and Todd stated there is absolutly zero need to go crazy during a bulking phase and get so caught up in how much you weigh that things start to get out of control; eating, bodyfat levels, ect.. An excellent read and what I base my offseason bulkin on is a book written by Frank Zane called The High Def Handbook. Granted it is ok to gain alittle bit of bodyfat I just see zero need myself in gaining 30, 40, or 50 extra pounds over contest weight and look and feel like absolute garbage. All that does is makes it that much harder to actually step on stage in shape and look half way decent. I see people all the time falling into this trap and then looking like their 6 weeks out on stage. I do believe though alittle bit of weight gain is needed to help with strength and appetite but not going overboard with it. |

Good call Zack Cross, I know what you mean with them going on stage looking 6 weeks out. Again Arnold swore by clean bulking and you all saw the size of him, granted he did take steroids. I’ll definitely look into that book man, I also wanna pick The Education of a Bodybuilder by Arnold, I hear it’s really good |

I have also heard that Arnolds book “The Education of a Bodybuilder” is a great read and then of coarse “The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding” by Arnold was my bible when I first started out, it is also an excellent read. |

“Education of a Bodybuilder” is an extraordinary read. I have read it at least 4 times since I purchased it my Freshman year of college. It’s got all kinds of crazy stories of Arnold and gets you deep into his life before he was a movie star or the Governator of Cali. If you wanna be a bodybuilder, I would definitely recommend sitting back, grabbing a protein shake, and indulging in the book this summer. You’ll be pumped |

I love the bulking season because I get a chance to eat a lot of foods Im not eating while cutting. I recommend to take pictures often and have bodyfat checks done because fat creeps up on you and all of a sudden after having too much fun eating those tasty foods you can find yourself with too much fat to lose and its a torturous long cutting phase. I know this from experience. |
